Dubai is renowned for its ambitious projects and luxurious lifestyle, and The World Islands are a testament to the city’s innovative spirit. This stunning archipelago, designed to resemble a map of the world, offers unparalleled luxury and unique experiences. In this article, we explore the latest development updates, luxury resorts, and unique experiences on The World Islands, along with tips on how to visit and insights into sustainable luxury in the UAE.

Development Updates

The World Islands project, initiated by Nakheel Properties, comprises 300 small islands shaped like a world map, located 4 kilometers off the coast of Dubai. While initial development faced challenges, recent years have seen significant progress, with several islands now hosting luxurious resorts and private estates.

One of the standout developments is The Heart of Europe, a cluster of six islands inspired by European destinations. This project aims to bring a slice of Europe to Dubai, featuring themed resorts, residential properties, and unique attractions such as climate-controlled streets and underwater villas. As of 2024, several resorts on The Heart of Europe are operational, with more set to open soon.

Another notable development is The Island Dubai, formerly known as Lebanon Island. This island offers a beach club, restaurant, and event space, making it a popular destination for day trips and private events.

Luxury Resorts

The World Islands are home to some of the most luxurious resorts in Dubai, each offering a unique experience:

  1. The Floating Venice: This resort brings the charm of Venice to the Arabian Gulf, with floating villas, gondola rides, and underwater suites. It provides an immersive Venetian experience, complete with canals and Italian-themed amenities.
  2. Sweden Island: Featuring 10 exclusive villas designed to resemble Swedish Viking homes, each villa boasts a private beach, snow room, and sauna, offering a blend of Scandinavian design and Arabian luxury.
  3. Germany Island: This island hosts a range of beachfront villas inspired by Bauhaus architecture, combining modern design with luxurious amenities. Each villa has direct beach access and stunning views of the Dubai skyline.

Unique Experiences

Visitors to The World Islands can indulge in a variety of unique experiences:

  1. Underwater Living: Some resorts offer underwater suites with panoramic views of marine life, providing a unique and immersive lodging experience.
  2. Climate-Controlled Streets: The Heart of Europe features streets that can be cooled during the summer, allowing visitors to enjoy outdoor activities comfortably all year round.
  3. Private Yacht Transfers: Many resorts provide private yacht transfers from the mainland, adding a touch of exclusivity and luxury to the journey.
  4. Cultural Events: The islands host various cultural events, from European-themed festivals to exclusive concerts and parties, ensuring there’s always something exciting happening.

How to Visit the Islands

Visiting The World Islands typically involves booking a stay at one of the luxury resorts, which often includes transportation from Dubai’s mainland. Private yacht or boat transfers are the most common means of reaching the islands, offering a scenic and luxurious start to your visit. Some islands, like Lebanon Island, also offer day passes for visitors looking to explore without an overnight stay.

Sustainable Luxury in the UAE

Sustainability is a growing focus in Dubai’s luxury sector, and The World Islands are no exception. Developers are incorporating eco-friendly practices and technologies to minimize environmental impact. The Heart of Europe, for instance, features coral reefs, energy-efficient buildings, and desalination plants that provide sustainable fresh water.

Efforts are also being made to preserve marine life and promote biodiversity around the islands. By integrating sustainability into their designs, these projects aim to set a benchmark for luxury developments worldwide.

Conclusion

The World Islands are a testament to Dubai’s vision and ambition, offering a unique blend of luxury, innovation, and sustainability. Whether you’re looking for a lavish getaway, a unique lodging experience, or a taste of European culture in the heart of the Arabian Gulf, The World Islands provide an unforgettable destination.

Dubai is the hub of all things opulent, and soon the city could welcome a massive resort in the shape of the moon. Moon World Resorts (MWR), a Canadian architecture firm, has proposed to create the resort in order to provide visitors with reasonably priced space tourism on Earth.

The opulent hotel, which will be built to resemble the lunar surface, is expected to be constructed in 48 months and reach a height of 735 feet overall. According to the architectural firm, “Moon Dubai” will boost the economy of the emirate in areas including hospitality, entertainment, tourist attractions, education, technology, the environment, and space tourism.

According to the founders of Moon World Resorts, Sandra G. Matthews and Michael R. Henderson, “Moon Dubai will be the largest and most successful modern-day tourism project within the entire MENA region, doubling annual tourism visitations to Dubai based on its global appeal, brand awareness, and unique multiple integrated offerings.” They also stated that it “can comfortably accommodate 10 million annual visitors.”

The newest theme hotel in Dubai will focus on essential industries like infrastructure, financial services, aviation, space, energy, agriculture, technology, and education, as well as targeted industries like transportation, business, and residential real estate. It will also have a positive economic impact on the city’s areas of hospitality, entertainment, attractions, education, technology, the environment, and space tourism.

Dubai’s luxury home market is likely to thrive and maintain its high velocity in 2022, owing to increased demand and interest from the worldwide elite, as stated by zoom property insights.

According to the real estate consultant, the post-Expo picture for the emirate’s luxury housing market appears bright, with plenty of fresh options for buyers and investors. Despite the pandemic concerns, the luxury home market saw increasing activity in 2021, with a 40% increase in pricing compared to the previous year.

According to  Ata Shobeiry, CEO at Zoom Property, the market, on the whole, will benefit from an influx of overseas investors as there’s an increase in demand from Ukrainian and Russian buyers, as well. Moreover, visa reforms, expatriate-friendly policies, and high profit earning potentials continue to attract investors from across the globe, making Dubai a lucrative market for real estate investment”.

During the first quarter of 2022, the most expensive apartment in Burj Khalifa Zone 4, Downtown Dubai, was sold for Dhs 73 million. It was followed by a Business Bay apartment in the Dorchester Collection Dubai. For Dhs 69 million, the ultra-luxury residence was sold.

Meanwhile, Expo 2020 Dubai comes to a close, marking an unforgettable experience for guests from all over the world, including political leaders, heads of state, members of the royal family, and global celebrities. As of March, the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia (MENASA) region’s inaugural World Expo had received over 22.93 million visitors and approximately 31 million internet visits.

The world’s largest fair, which lasted six months and was themed ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future,’ also served as a platform to address key global concerns such as sustainable practices, the future of transportation and travel, innovative ideas for the holistic development of youth and communities, and much more.

Saudi Arabia has also established itself as a major contender to host Expo 2030, reiterating its ambition and readiness to host the global expo. The UAE Pavilion, which was designed to look like a falcon in flight and featured a four-story white building with hospitality spaces and exhibitions aimed at displaying the country’s culture and inspiring stories, was another significant pavilion.

On Wednesday, British artist Sacha Jafri inaugurated “The Art Maze,” his latest display, on the Burj Al-Arab Jumeirah helipad in Dubai. The exhibition, which is a collaboration with art curator and architect Marcus Schaefer, contains 30 oil and acrylic paintings commemorating UNESCO’s World Heritage Site program’s 50th anniversary.

Jafri began preparing for the exhibition six months ago, and the artworks were completed in six weeks. “It’s been the most difficult six months of my life.” I painted for 28 hours straight yesterday. There was no food, no drink, no nothing. He told a press conference, “I was like a walking ghost.”

When he was a child, the artist recalls his mother taking him to see World Heritage sites. If I’m being honest, it wasn’t something I particularly appreciated,” he admitted. “However, Mom did it for me, and it was only later in life that I discovered why. It’s crucial, and it’s something that today’s children are missing out on.”

“I am a father of two daughters and am concerned about the next generation,” he added. I’m concerned about the future of our world. I’m concerned about the long-term viability and quality of education.”

Charity groups have told Jafri that artists are now relating their work to a philanthropic cause or “doing something for humanity” after spending six months last year finishing his “The Journey of Humanity,” an artwork that broke the Guinness World Record for the largest art canvas. The exhibition is free and open to the public until March 27 on a first-come, first-served basis, before traveling worldwide locations for two years. For the Paris show, which runs from September 12 to 18, Jafri aims to make 20 more paintings.

“I believe art feeds the soul and may produce transformational and intimate encounters,” said Ermanno Zanini, regional vice president, and general manager at Burj Al-Arab. “Through our cooperation with Schaefer and Jafri, we’re providing guests the opportunity to immerse themselves in Burj Al-fascinating Arab’s history and find a one-of-a-kind exhibition in a one-of-a-kind environment.
