  • Dubai, UAE, 8 September 2024: Roberto Cavalli closed Dubai Fashion Week (DFW) with a dramatic runway show at Dubai Design District (d3), reinforcing its standing as a luxury fashion powerhouse. The event marked the grand finale of DFW Spring/Summer 2025, co-hosted by d3 and the Arab Fashion Council, further cementing Dubai’s role as a global fashion hub.

The participation of Roberto Cavalli at DFW showcased both the regional and global resurgence of the brand. Fausto Puglisi, Creative Director of Roberto Cavalli, expressed his excitement about the event: “Dubai is a city that embodies luxury and fashion. It’s an honour to close Dubai Fashion Week in such an energetic and bold market, which aligns perfectly with the spirit of our collections.”

The runway displayed the Resort 2025 collection, which paid homage to the brand’s late founder. The collection included signature elements like iconic rose prints and zebra patterns, reflecting Roberto Cavalli’s distinctive design identity. “The brand doesn’t define a single ‘Roberto Cavalli woman,’ but rather celebrates the diversity of personalities and styles each woman embodies. This collection speaks to the individuality, strength, and beauty of women in this region,” Fausto added.

Additionally, the show introduced a special capsule collection inspired by Murano glass, featuring deep greens and blues, honouring the craftsmanship of Venice and paying tribute to Italy’s cultural heritage.

Since DAMAC Group acquired Roberto Cavalli in 2019, the brand has expanded beyond fashion into sectors like real estate and hospitality, with highlights including the Cavalli Tower in Dubai—a reflection of the brand’s luxury lifestyle ethos.

Amira Sajwani, Managing Director of DAMAC Group, shared her thoughts: “Dubai’s global fashion influence continues to grow, and we’re proud to see Roberto Cavalli leading this transformation. The brand’s Italian flair and luxury align perfectly with the Middle East, and we’re eager to see its further expansion in the region.”

    Thriving Fashion Market in Dubai

Dubai continues to play a key role in the global luxury fashion industry, with a growing demand for high-end fashion across the GCC region, including the UAE and Saudi Arabia. This booming market is proving vital for international brands like Roberto Cavalli.

With its participation in Dubai Fashion Week, Roberto Cavalli reinforces its commitment to the region’s fashion scene. In addition to fashion, the brand offers fragrances, eyewear, and home collections and is expanding its global retail presence with new stores in London and Las Vegas, as well as exploring further opportunities across the Middle East.

Dubai, UAE, 21 September 2023: Dubai Fashion Week (DFW), founded by Dubai Design District (d3), part of TECOM Group PJSC, and the Arab Fashion Council (AFC), will return from October 9 until October 15, 2023, at d3. The upcoming event will present Spring/Summer 24 collections and include a dynamic, citywide calendar of high-profile fashion shows, exclusive events, book signings, a trunk show in collaboration with Mall of the Emirates, capsule launches, brand activations, and industry talks.

The official Dubai Fashion Week, which was launched at an intimate event this Spring, has become the region’s definitive fashion fixture. It evolves from the successful legacy of Arab Fashion Week, with shows planned in line with the global fashion calendar. This autumn, Dubai Fashion Week will again provide an international platform for emerging and established designers to grow their brands, securing Dubai’s position among the global fashion capitals of Paris, New York, London, and Milan.

Not only will regional designers get to meet and do business with international buyers and distributors, but the seven-day event will also serve as a gateway for international talent and brands to continue expanding their global footprint through the regional market. The upcoming edition will also have a strong sustainability focus, aligning with the UAE’s Year of Sustainability and the upcoming COP28 in Dubai.

Khadija Al Bastaki, Senior Vice President of Dubai Design District (d3) – TECOM Group, said: “The global fashion compass is heading east to Dubai. The city has always been a haven for creative talent on this side of the globe. It is now drawing a remarkably diverse and innovative assortment of talent, shaping the fashion industry’s future. The latest edition of Dubai Fashion Week will be a truly momentous occasion in the global fashion calendar and prove that extending platforms for creatives can bring unexpected and extraordinary talent to the fore. Dubai Fashion Week reflects d3’s commitment to empowering designers, fueling the creative economy, and driving greater creative investment in line with the Dubai Creative Economy Strategy and Dubai Economic Agenda D33.”

Jacob Abrian, CEO of the Arab Fashion Council, said: “Dubai Fashion Week exemplifies the formidable power of fashion, evolving into a global force that unites talents across borders. The Arab Fashion Council’s steadfast mission has always been to catapult the region’s fashion industry onto the global stage, laying the foundation for a thriving creative economy. This DFW edition represents a pivotal moment in reshaping the global fashion landscape and fortifying the international fashion community. Dubai Fashion Week, with its roster of impressive global designers and strong multinational support, stands as a testament to the event’s sustainable growth. We take pride in our achievements, but our future holds a treasure trove of surprises and ambitious plans.”

Dubai Fashion Week will witness more than 25 designers representing over 12 countries, including a yet-to-be-revealed world-renowned New York-based designer, reflecting Dubai’s flourishing status as a global fashion capital.

The schedule will see Dubai Fashion Week Members showcase original collections, including homegrown designers Mrs. KeepaDima Ayad, and Lama Jouni, as well as Victor Weinsanto.

Further names on the Dubai runway include d3-based designers Michael CincoPipatchara, and The Giving Movement, who will return to the global fashion event, alongside new names Viva Vox, Anaya, Yaspis, and Rizman Ruzaini. Dubai Fashion Week will bring together talents from the GCC and Levant, Southeast Asia, Europe, and North and South America. The works of the late Russian couturier Valentin Yudashkin will be presented in the upcoming edition, marking the brand’s first appearance in Dubai.

Also featuring on the Dubai Fashion Week events calendar will be the IGDS World Department Store Summit, the world’s largest event for department store leaders and their business partners. The event, which will be the first event organized by IGDS in the Middle East, will be staged on October 11–12, 2023, in Dubai.

Furthering its agenda to facilitate new opportunities for international talent, Dubai Fashion Week will also host The Designers Showroom, a multifunctional platform committed to cultivating a creative community and promoting talent. This new initiative will be a staple of Fashion Week, providing regional and international buyers, shoppers, and media with a common space to engage with and explore the craftsmanship of designers. This season, Dubai Fashion Week will further grow its support for fresh talent by dedicating multiple slots on its calendar to young designers. Dubai Fashion Week will feature the Graduate Fashion Foundation, which will springboard new fashion talent during Graduate Fashion Week with runway shows highlighting innovative presentations by graduate students worldwide from over 30 universities.

The d3-based FAD Institute will also showcase its student’s work during a dedicated show. Prestigious Italian fashion school Polimoda is not only showcasing emerging talent with a runway show by one of their star students but is also joining hands with the AFC to launch a competition during an intimate dinner at DFW. This competition will be officially announced during the event, offering an incredible opportunity for the winner to earn a Polimoda scholarship.

In a significant move to cement Dubai as a global fashion capital, Dubai Design District (d3), a member of TECOM Group PJSC, and the Arab Fashion Council (AFC) have launched the official Dubai Fashion Week. The first show of the new fashion calendar will take place from 10-15 March.

The event evolved from the successful legacy of Arab Fashion Week, which in October 2022 saw its 21st edition. Dubai Fashion Week will be the definitive fashion fixture emerging from the region, featuring Men’s, Women’s, ready-to-wear, and couture collections. It underscores TECOM Group’s commitment to cementing Dubai as a global creative capital and builds on Dubai’s status as a global hub for business growth and investment.

The announcement was made last night at an exclusive event at Dubai Design District (d3) in the presence of Abdulla Belhoul, Chief Executive Officer of TECOM Group, Issam Kazim, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism, Ammar Al Malik, Executive Vice President – Commercial, TECOM Group, Khadija Al Bastaki, Senior Vice President of Dubai Design District (d3), Jacob Abrian, CEO of the Arab Fashion Council, among other dignitaries, including government officials and high-profile fashion and culture media.

With shows planned in line with the global fashion calendar, Dubai Fashion Week will provide an international platform for emerging and established designers to grow their brands. Not only will regional designers get to meet and do business with international buyers and distributors, but it will also serve as a gateway for international talent and brands to continue expanding their global footprint through the regional market.

Khadija Al Bastaki, Senior Vice President of Dubai Design District (d3), part of TECOM Group, said: “Where there was Paris, Milan, London and New York, there is now Dubai. From economic activity to tourism and creativity, Dubai has carved its own space among the world’s cosmopolitan capitals, and fashion is one industry boosting its status. All eyes are on the Middle East for fashion and creativity, and now the sky is the limit. Dubai has the vision, ambition and innovation to elevate the impact and reach of creatives globally. Our evolving partnership with the Arab Fashion Council will strengthen our networks with international and regional partners and boost the industry’s contribution to the creative economy.”

Jacob Abrian, CEO of the Arab Fashion Council, said: “Dubai has arrived on the global fashion stage. Emerging and established creatives have shaped a distinct identity for the region that resonates far and wide. Our region’s fashion industry is entering a new chapter as we become increasingly active contributors to the global fashion narrative. Arab Fashion Council is proud to amplify this voice and partner with d3 and TECOM Group to launch Dubai Fashion Week, the official industry platform. Presenting Dubai as a global creative hub, Dubai Fashion Week will boost fashion exports and attract world-class investment.”

Serge Carreira, Head Emerging Brands Initiative, Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode added: “Over the last years, Dubai became one of the most dynamic places for arts and creative industries. The Arab Fashion Council and Dubai Design District have been successfully promoting and supporting talents from all the regions focusing on creativity, values and excellence. Fashion is a cultural expression fuelled by tradition but also by the zeitgeist. I strongly believe that Dubai has now the capacity to become a global fashion hub addressing today’s questions of sustainability, technology and diversity.”

    Expanding Dubai’s creative impact
Dubai maintains an indisputable reputation as the region’s fashion capital. Alongside successful events like Arab Fashion Week, the city’s prolific retail landscape has contributed to its status as a luxury shopping hub. Dubai’s business-friendly framework and strategic location attract major fashion houses such as Dior, Prada and Valentino, which are based in d3 alongside regional labels. Platforms such as TECOM Group’s in5 Design further enable homegrown creative entrepreneurship to reduce the barriers to entry for new talent.

Dubai Fashion Week aims to strengthen the city’s influence on the global creative stage under its D.U.B.A.I. pillars: Diversity; Unity; Business; Ambition; and Innovation, and further enable the development of the fashion industry value chain. d3 provides an established platform to launch the program as a global creative ecosystem where leading fashion, design, and art brands from around the world converge.

Leading up to Dubai Fashion Week, the official calendar will enable brands, designers, and industry players to activate their own program of runway shows, presentations, exhibitions, pop-ups, special celebrations, and workshops in d3 and across Dubai. More details about the inaugural edition will be revealed closer to the date.

Dubai Fashion Week builds upon the many milestones of Arab Fashion Week, which, over seven years and 21 editions, include:

    • Presenting hundreds of different creative designers from over 50 countries
    • Attracting industry icons from around the globe and more than 250,000 fashion enthusiasts and international fashion media since its inception
    • Working with an array of prestigious international partners, including the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode (French body that coordinates Paris Fashion Week), to deliver new opportunities to exchange talent on both calendars
    • Launching the first menswear fashion week in Asia, Middle East, and Africa
    • Launching the diversity program and appointing the region’s first curvy model on the runway

Dubai Design District (d3) is part of TECOM Group’s business district portfolio, including Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City, Dubai Studio City, Dubai Production City, Dubai Knowledge Park, Dubai International Academic City, Dubai Science Park and Dubai Industrial City.
